WiSE hosted a professional development workshop in partnership with COACh, called “Career Launch & Acceleration”. The workshop provided great tips for everyone – graduate students, technicians, postdocs, and others thinking about the next step in their career.
Workshop description: Seeking and starting that first job as a scientist is a time of great transition and uncertainty. This workshop provides techniques necessary for an effective career launch into the job that best fits your skills and interests. This workshop module will help position you to be most effective in finding and applying for a variety of job positions, developing a tailored CV for the position and being an effective communicator in the interview whether it is by phone, web-based or in person. Additional topics include effective communication methods for teaching and research presentations, importance of network building and finding a mentor, building a strong CV and developing a professional internet presence.
